MommyChats' Chat Info
BEFORE YOU
LOG INTO THE CHAT ROOM FOR THE FIRST TIME,
YOU MUST READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE.
SOME HELPFUL
INFO ABOUT THE CHATWARE APPLET--
-
If you are
having problems getting into the chatware, and are
not using
Microsoft Internet Explorer or
Mozilla Firefox as your browser (or mac), this
could be your problem as most other browsers have
problems with java. Please try one of those browsers
and see if that solves your issues.
-
The applet may take a few
seconds to load, depending on your computer and
internet connection... Hang in there, its worth it!
Here's what the applet
should look like once its loaded...notice the
arrow pointing to the register link. You have to
register
and verify your account before you can log in
(check your spam folder if you can't find the
verification email). **If
the chatware doesn't look to you like it does in
the graphic linked above, then you probably need
to go to www.java.com
and install their free java virtual machine.
- You MUST have the most
current version of SUN Java Virtual Machine installed on
your PC (or the latest OS for mac) for this chat to run
properly. Should you
experience problems, you can download the JVM for free at
www.java.com.
Please restart your computer after the upgrade to ensure
everything works properly.
- You need to have popups enabled in
order to get the registration form and the password
retrieval links to work. (There are not now and never will be popup ads
on this site.) Here's direct links to the
registration form and
password retrieval if you are unable to get to
them via the applet.
-
If
you cannot get into a chat room using the drop-down
menu to the right...try this:
/join the_exact_name_of_the_room
(that's a forward slash, no space,
"join", space, then the exact name of the room as
you see it in the dropdown menu-
--capitals, underscores and all)
-
If you have chat
problems, (such as not being able to get into a room or
getting booted from a room), try this: empty temporary
internet files (for IE, click tools, then internet options,
then delete files, then ok), close all browsers, restart
computer, then open just the chat room. Sometimes Java chat
programs get testy if too much stuff is open on your
computer. Especially if it's another place that is using
Java for something.
-
Another thing to do
if you are having problems connecting to the chat:
Call your ISP (internet service provider) and ask
them to check TCP Port 8000 at client1.sigmachat.com
and make sure it's enabled
(sometimes ISPs will block some ports).
-
If you are
still having problems with the chatware, visit the
"troubleshooter" and "knowledge base" on
this webpage to see if there are any solutions
there for you. Or
email me and I can help you work through it.
-
Please make sure to click the
"help" button when its up, and read all about the
features of this fun chat program!
To read the full
help file
- Once you are in the chat room...Notice the
user list (on the right, w/blue background)...
Chatters are listed under the room they are in. If
there is a plus symbol next to a chat room, click on
it to expand the user list in that room.
HAVE FUN CHATTING!!!
Email
me if you have any questions!
