13:09:35 RandallNeustaedter I will field all questions about managing pediatric illness and symptoms. Let's stay away from vaccine questions.
13:09:53 Webmama_Tina lailaca you're up first
13:10:18 KateDWJMERMJ ?
13:10:26 lailaca i am moving to Germany with my son...is there anything I should specifically bring with me
13:10:40 Webmama_Tina current chatters: lailaca ....upcoming chatters: hillyb6, KateDWJMERMJ
13:10:46 lailaca he has been healthy, is almost 5, still nurses and is not vaccinated
13:11:51 RandallNeustaedter lailaca On any trip you should give a probiotic. Jarrow makes one that does not require refrigeration. And bring a few homeopathic remedies: Belladonna for fever, Arsenicum for diarrhea, Arnica for injuries.
13:12:21 RandallNeustaedter anything else you had in mind?
13:12:51 RandallNeustaedter next
13:12:57 hillyb6 do you know about eosinophillic gastroenteristis  is there any holestic ways to treat or elimante eosinophiles, ore pedia reflux in the gi tract ?
13:13:29 Webmama_Tina current chatters: hillyb6 ....upcoming chatters: KateDWJMERMJ
13:14:01 sweetirishct ?
13:14:15 RandallNeustaedter hillyb6 This is a huge topic because there is excellent holistic pediatric treatment for reflux and these symptoms. If you search for reflux on my website www.cure-guide.com you will see some discussion of this.
13:14:31 RandallNeustaedter There is also info in my book Child Health Guide.
13:14:43 hillyb6 does it cover the eos as well
13:14:57 Webmama_Tina current chatters: hillyb6 ....upcoming chatters: KateDWJMERMJ, sweetirishct
13:14:58 hillyb6 they say the reflux is caused by the eos so normal meds arent working
13:15:19 RandallNeustaedter Holistic pediatrics usually will combine homeopathy and Chinese herbs and supplements for this.
13:15:33 hillyb6 other than diet elimantion and elemental formula the meds they are using arent helping
13:15:43 RandallNeustaedter Normal meds (acid blockers) are not appropriate for these symptoms.
13:15:48 hillyb6 can those reduce inflamtion caused by allergic response of the gi tract
13:16:06 RandallNeustaedter Acid is needed to digest food, so blocking acid production is the wrong treatment.
13:16:09 hillyb6 does your book cover that  in it  about waht to  use for these too
13:17:12 RandallNeustaedter Certainly you can give a bifidus supplement, but otherwise the treatment is prescription herbs. You need to find someone trained in this.
13:17:33 hillyb6 is there a site to locat drs like you in my area
13:17:45 RandallNeustaedter www.hpakids.org
13:17:55 hillyb6 thank you
13:17:58 RandallNeustaedter next
13:18:00 KateDWJMERMJ Are there any holistic ways that I can treat a type II enzyme defiency mitochondrial disorder?
13:18:26 RandallNeustaedter Wow, you guys do not have simple problems today.
13:18:34 KateDWJMERMJ sorry
13:18:35 dia-michaela-pg       lol
13:19:00 hillyb6 lol yah  not uncomplicated are we lol
13:19:31 RandallNeustaedter KateDWJMERMJ there are treatments for the symptoms, but there may be some limitations whenever genetic disorders underlie a condition.
13:19:48 elijahsmommy ?
13:19:52 RandallNeustaedter I would certainly seek an expert opinion from a holistic pediatrician.
13:19:57 KateDWJMERMJ ok ty
13:20:06 Webmama_Tina current chatters: KateDWJMERMJ ....upcoming chatters: sweetirishct, elijahsmommy
13:20:12 RandallNeustaedter Obviously conventional medicine is not going to have much to offer.
13:20:15 RandallNeustaedter next
13:20:20 sweetirishct hi.
13:20:30 sweetirishct mine is a much simpler question
13:20:43 RandallNeustaedter sweetirishct thank goodness
13:20:44 Gavinsmom ?
13:20:44 sweetirishct can a 2yr old exhibit environmental allergies?
13:20:51 dia-michaela-pg Is there a website or some \list\" of holistic pediatricians by area, to be recommended?"
13:21:00 Webmama_Tina current chatters: sweetirishct ....upcoming chatters: elijahsmommy, Gavinsmom
13:21:04 Webmama_Tina LOL

13:21:43 RandallNeustaedter sweetirishct Usually a 2 yr old will not develop allergies to inhalants, but it is possible.
13:21:54 sweetirishct i ask because DD seems to show symptoms (runny nose, reddenned eyes) around the same time as my symptoms (congested ears/sinuses)
13:21:56 RandallNeustaedter I usually look at foods first.
13:22:41 sweetirishct and my sx's usually poke their ugly heads when things (trees, etc) start to bloom
13:22:58 RandallNeustaedter sweetirishct Then I would treat it as an environmental allergen using an air filter in her room, and pediatric herbal formulas from Chinese Modular Solutions (Rx only).
13:23:26 RandallNeustaedter BTW the directory website is www.hpakids.org
13:23:44 hillyb6 ?
13:23:52 RandallNeustaedter Those are really the most effective herbal formulas for this in kids.
13:23:54 sweetirishct i am VERY new to homeo meds.. I bought the Boiron \allergy\" formula today, is this OK to try for her next time she has sx's?"
13:24:14 Webmama_Tina current chatters: sweetirishct ....upcoming chatters: elijahsmommy, Gavinsmom, hillyb6
13:24:16 RandallNeustaedter Of course homeopathy can also work like magic. But I do NOT use combination medicines.
13:24:36 RandallNeustaedter I think they tend to interfere with one another and therefore not be very effective in the long run.
13:24:45 sweetirishct is Chinese Modular Solutions  a brand name? or do I have to see a homoepath for them? (our insurance does not cover at all)
13:24:58 batsoup ?
13:25:38 RandallNeustaedter CMS is a brand. You can investigate them at www.kanherb.com. They are in the Gentle Warriors line.
13:25:41 Webmama_Tina current chatters: sweetirishct ....upcoming chatters: elijahsmommy, Gavinsmom,hillyb6, batsoup
13:25:54 RandallNeustaedter Blue Poppy also makes pediatric Chinese herbal formulas.
13:25:55 RandallNeustaedter next
13:26:01 elijahsmommy My son has eczema but also very sensitive skin. I try to watch what he eats, but he still seems to get irritated by something. Is there anythig that you would recommend as a natural cream, something to put on the skin that could help?
13:26:24 sweetirishct thanks so much!!
13:26:34 RandallNeustaedter elijahsmommy Eczema is an internal problem, and so external applications are not very effective.
13:27:04 RandallNeustaedter You could try Florasone by B&T, usually available at health food stores or online.
13:27:19 elijahsmommy is that a pill?
13:27:36 elijahsmommy well sorry...liquid for kids?
13:28:16 RandallNeustaedter Florasone is a cream for itching. Moisturizers are good (organic are best). But eczema requires constitutional treatment with homeopathy (and often herbs and acupuncture). It is easy to cure with the right treatment.
13:28:38 elijahsmommy so any advice on where I can start internally
13:28:49 elijahsmommy the right herb for kids that is a start for me
13:29:44 Webmama_Tina current chatters: elijahsmommy ....upcoming chatters: Gavinsmom,hillyb6, batsoup
13:30:03 RandallNeustaedter The treatment of eczema (and asthma) and allergies requires an individualized approach to the child. Other treatment, like Rhus-tox or Mezereum in homeopathic pills are only palliative and not curative.
13:30:10 RandallNeustaedter next.
13:30:14 Gavinsmom My son is two months and I live in the Pac Northwest.  I have been warned to give the dtap because      there have been many pertussis outbreaks here recently. I would prefer not to give this vax...what are your thoughts since he is so young?
13:30:27 Webmama_Tina current chatters: Gavinsmom ....upcoming chatters: hillyb6, batsoup
13:30:55 Gavinsmom i have read your book....excellent :)
13:31:38 RandallNeustaedter Gavinsmom A baby is usually immune to pertussis (and everything else that you have been exposed to) for 6 months. I have seen 2 month old babies with pertussis and even they can be managed successfully.
13:32:06 RandallNeustaedter Pertussis is a little scary, but holistic (naturopathic) treatment is very successful.
13:32:35 Gavinsmom ok....That is reassuring....thank you
13:32:53 Webmama_Tina current chatters: hillyb6 ....upcoming chatters: batsoup
13:33:03 RandallNeustaedter There are several good articles on treatment. On my website and Jake Fratkin has discussed the Chinese medicine treatment at the Acupuncture Today website.
